We have all heard the story, change your light bulbs out for new CFLs or Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs and we can all save the planet. Well, as it turns out that there is a whole lot of data out there to support this recommendation. If every household in the the US were to change out their 5 most used lights in the home with CFL bulbs or their equivalent we could save an estimated 8 Billion in energy savings annually.
Now if that was not enough we would also reduce carbon pollution at the estimated equivalent of 10 million cars in that same year. We have certainly all heard these facts before, but is the message getting through? Sure the bulbs cost a little more initially, but they also last longer than their energy inefficient incandescent bulbs.
We can all surely change out a few at a time to help the planet. Start with the 5 most frequently used light bulbs in your house and replace them one at a time. By the time the year is over you might be surprised to find that all your bulbs are changed.
